Methodological question
Viktorie Halasu, 20-10-2020 23:42
Viktorie HalasuHello forum,

I would like to ask, how do you preserve small terrestric discomycetes, especially if they are on sandy soil? For example, ca. 1 mm wide apothecia of a Boudiera, Octospora, Ramsbottomia, Oviascoma etc. Do you separate and dry only the apothecia, or do you dry it all together? And if you worked with herbarium specimens of such fungi - how did you find the tiny dried fruitbodies among tiny grains of sand?

Thanks a lot for any shared experience.

Re : Methodological question
Get a small cardboard box, place white glue in the bottom, then carefully dig up the substrate with apothecia and place on the glue. Close box and let dry for awhile and be very careful.

Cheers,
Andy
