Acrospermum graminum - Spore Sizes
Peter Thompson,

I have been trying to find information about the sizes of the filiform spores of Acrospermum graminum.
They are not stated in the Ellis & Ellis Microfungi on Land Plants book and so far, I have been unable to find the information anywhere else.
If you have the details of this, I would be very grateful to receive them.
Thanking you in advance,
Peter.

Re : Acrospermum graminum - Spore Sizes
Hello Peter,
Rehm (in Rabenhorst Kryptogamenflora ) gives for A. compresum, including A. graminum, the size of the spores as 100-400 x 1 MU.
Saccardo gives (Sylloge II page 807 ) 130-150 x 3-5 MU.
Rehm again states that given the development of the apothecia (!) the lenght of the spores varies.
Best regards,
Marco

Re : Acrospermum graminum - Spore Sizes
Hello Marco,
Thank you for these measurements.
The Saccardo width measurements seem too wide for filiform spores. I think that I shall use the Rehm measurements.
Best wishes,
Peter.

Re : Acrospermum graminum - Spore Sizes
Hello Chris,
Thank you for this.
The Transactions of the BMS look very useful. I think that this is the first one which I have seen.
Do you, by any chance, have information about the spore sizes of the 5 powdery mildews which I listed in my other Forum request yesterday? This was the remaining information which I did not capture from a previous Forum request a few months ago.
Best wishes,
Peter.
